How to Apply for an Entry/Exit Permit for Residence in Taiwan

Students from Hong Kong and Macao who have been admitted to Chaoyang University of Technology must apply for an Entry Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents (valid for a stay of up to 3 months) before coming to Taiwan in order to enter Taiwan. After entering Taiwan, students must complete the required health examination, complete the registration and enrollment procedures at the University, and then apply for an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) at the Student Services Group, Office of International Affairs.

Required Documents:

  1. Application Form for Entry, Residence, and Settlement in the Taiwan Area of the Republic of China
  2. One 2-inch passport-size photograph with a white background
  3. Proof of permanent resident status in Hong Kong or Macao
  4. Certificate of Police Criminal Record issued in Hong Kong or Macao within the past five years (valid for 3 months); applicants under the age of 18 are exempt from this requirement
  5. Health Examination Certificate (conducted in accordance with the health examination items for residence or settlement prescribed by the central health authority; valid for 3 months)
  6. Placement Notice issued by the Overseas Community Affairs Council or Admission Notification for Individual Admission
  7. Official Admission Letter issued by the University and Certificate of Enrollment
  8. Hong Kong or Macao Resident Status Confirmation Form
  9. Declaration Form for Hong Kong and Macao Residents Applying for Residence or Settlement
  10. Entry/Exit Permit
  11. Application fee: NT$2,600
  12. Processing time: 5 working days (excluding the date of application submission, weekends and public holidays, time required for submitting supplementary documents, mailing time, processing and transfer of the police criminal record certificate, and consultation with relevant authorities)
